For service businesses

Run a clinic, salon or gym? You are paid before the work is done. We record it the right way.

A service business collects money in ways a shop never does. A gym sells a year of membership in one card swipe. A clinic takes an advance before a procedure. A coaching centre bills a company for a batch of students. None of that money is fully earned on the day it lands. A cash payment at the front desk still has to match the bank. We record each fee in the month it is earned. We claim the tax your corporate clients deduct from your bills. We match your cash to your bank every month.

  • Every filing is checked before you approve it
  • A reply the same working day
  • One fixed fee a month

What is different for you

What a general accounting page will not tell you.

What you sell decides the GST question, not only your size.

Most health treatment by a clinic or a doctor carries no GST, whatever your receipts. Cosmetic work is taxed, and so is a salon, a gym or a coaching centre. For those, the yearly limit for services is lower than the limit for goods in most states. A clinic that also sells medicines has both kinds of sale at one counter.

Advance fees and memberships are not income the day they land.

A yearly membership or a package paid in advance covers months of work still to come. Recording it all as income in the first month overstates that month and understates the rest. GST works the other way. On a service, the GST on an advance is due when the money reaches you, before the work is done.

Corporate clients deduct tax before they pay you.

A company that hires your clinic, salon or event team usually cuts tax from the bill before paying it. That tax has already reached the government. It comes back only if the client reports it correctly and you claim it in your return.

There are two presumptive schemes, not one.

Presumptive tax lets you declare a fixed share of your receipts as income. You keep no detailed books and you need no audit. One scheme covers the professions the law names, and a doctor is on that list. A second covers other businesses, which is where a salon, gym or coaching centre usually sits. Each has its own limit, and a higher limit applies if almost none of your money comes in cash.

Staff and freelancer payments do not carry the same tax rule.

Salary, freelance design work and a contractor doing repairs each carry a different rate. Getting the category wrong is an easy mistake in a business that uses all three. If you trade in your own name, TDS on freelancers usually starts once your turnover crosses the tax audit limit. A very large yearly payment to one person is a separate case. Tax on salary starts with your first employee.

Some states charge a separate tax on your staff.

Professional tax is a small state charge on salaries and on some professionals. It applies in some states and not in others, and each state sets its own rate. There are usually two parts, one for the business itself and one cut from each salary. Whether you owe it depends on the state your business and your staff sit in.

What we do for you

Every month, this is what we take over.

  • We record advance fees and memberships in the right month. A package or a membership is spread across the months it covers, so your monthly profit means something. The GST on the advance is paid in the month the money arrives.
  • We claim the tax your corporate clients deduct. Matched against what each client reported, so it reduces your tax instead of sitting unclaimed.
  • We match your daily cash to your bank. Every cash payment collected at the counter is matched to what reached your account.
  • We check both presumptive schemes against your real numbers. If one of them leaves you paying less, we tell you before you file, not after.
  • Everything beyond your fees and your staff. Books, GST, TDS, income tax, ROC where it applies, and notices. We run all of it as your finance team, for one fixed fee.

A membership sold in January is not January's income alone. It covers every month the membership runs.

Questions

Things people in your position ask.

Do I need to register for GST as a clinic, salon or gym?

It depends on what you sell. Most treatment by a clinic or a doctor carries no GST at all, so registration may never arise. A salon, gym or coaching centre is taxable, and registration is due once your yearly receipts cross the limit for services. That limit is lower than the limit for goods in most states. We track your receipts and tell you before you cross it.

A company I bill deducts tax before paying me. How do I get it back?

It is already sitting with the government under your PAN. You claim it in your return, but only if the company reported it correctly. We match what each client reported against your account through the year, so any gap gets found early.

Can I use the presumptive scheme for my clinic or practice?

A doctor can use the scheme for the professions the law names. A salon, gym or event company is not on that list. There is a second scheme for other businesses, with a limit of its own. Neither is open to a company or an LLP, so how you are registered matters. We check both against your numbers and tell you which one leaves you paying less.

Can you take on a coaching centre, event company or repair business?

Yes. We run books, GST, TDS and payroll for any service business, whatever mix of staff, freelancers and corporate clients you have.
