DIR-3 KYC due date: the rule changed on 31 March 2026.

DIR-3 KYC, the identity check for every company director, is no longer due every 30 September. The rule changed on 31 March 2026. Now the check is filed once every three financial years, by 30 June. A change of mobile number, email or home address is filed within 30 days. On the reading most firms use, the next three-year date is 30 June 2028. A missed filing still switches off your Director Identification Number, the DIN, until a flat government fee is paid.

  • Every filing is checked before you approve it
  • Filed on its date, every year
  • If a date is missed because of us, that month is free

Do I need to do DIR-3 KYC again this year? I did it last year.10:12
No. The rule changed on 31 March 2026. It is once every three years now, by 30 June. Did your mobile, email or home address change after March?10:20
No, all same.10:22
CheckedThen nothing is due this year. Your DIN is active, I checked on the portal. The next date is on your calendar and I will send the form before it.10:31

An example of how it goes.

DIR-3 KYC, in plain words.

What changed, and when.
MCA replaced the rule on 31 December 2025, and the new rule took effect on 31 March 2026. The yearly filing by 30 September is gone. One web form, DIR-3 KYC Web, replaces the old full form and the old short form.
Who has to file it.
Every person who held a DIN on 31 March of a financial year. It does not matter whether they are a director in a live company right now. It sits with the person, not the company.
The date.
By 30 June after every third financial year. On the reading most firms use, the first date under the new rule is 30 June 2028. MCA has not printed a worked example, so we confirm each director's date on the portal before we file.
A change of details has its own 30-day clock.
If your mobile number, email or home address changes, you file DIR-3 KYC Web within 30 days of the change. This filing carries a fee of ₹500. It does not wait for the three-year date.
On time it is free. Late, it costs a flat fee.
There is no fee for the three-year filing done by the date. After it, the DIN is switched off, and a flat fee set by the government is charged to file the form and turn it back on. The fee does not grow with time.
What a switched-off DIN stops.
A switched-off DIN cannot sign any company filing. Your yearly accounts, your yearly return, and any other form waiting on that signature wait until the DIN is active again.
If your DIN was switched off in an earlier year.
An old miss is not wiped by the new rule. A DIN switched off for a missed filing in 2025 or before stays off until the form is filed with the flat fee. Do it before your yearly accounts are due, because the accounts need a live DIN to sign.

What we do for you.

We track every director's DIN as well as the company's own filings.
A person can hold a DIN from an old directorship, even in a company that has closed. We keep watch on the person, not only the company on our books.
We put the three-year date on each director's calendar.
The date is not tied to your company's year end, and three years is long enough to forget. We hold it for every director on our books and bring the form to you before it.
We watch the 30-day clock on changes.
A new phone number or a house move starts a 30-day clock that most directors do not know about. Tell us the day it changes and we file the update inside the window.
The OTP goes to you, not to us.
We fill in the form. The OTP for the mobile and email step lands on your own phone and inbox, and you enter it yourself.
We check every director's status before your yearly accounts are due.
A switched-off DIN can hold up the yearly accounts and yearly return, so we clear it well ahead of those dates.

Your side of it.

Small things, sent any way you like. We do the rest.

  • PAN and Aadhaar for each director
  • The mobile number, email and home address each director uses (the OTP goes there)
  • A passport copy, if a director is a foreign national

Send us each director's PAN and Aadhaar once. We hold the three-year date and the 30-day clock for every director, and bring the form to you before either.

What people ask about the DIR-3 KYC due date.

Do I have to file DIR-3 KYC by 30 September 2026?

No. The yearly 30 September filing ended on 31 March 2026. If your mobile number, email or home address changed after that date, you file the update within 30 days of the change. Otherwise the next filing is the three-year one, by 30 June.

I have two companies. Do I file DIR-3 KYC twice?

No. DIR-3 KYC is filed once per person, against your DIN, not once per company. If you are a director in more than one company, one filing covers all of them.

When exactly is the three-year date?

By 30 June after every third financial year. Most firms read the first one as 30 June 2028. MCA has not printed a worked example yet. We confirm your date on the portal before we file, and tell you the same day if MCA says otherwise.

I changed my mobile number this year. Does that matter?

Yes. A changed mobile number, email or home address means you file DIR-3 KYC Web within 30 days of the change, with a fee of ₹500. The three-year date does not wait for it, and it does not replace it.

My DIN was switched off last year. What do I do now?

File the form as soon as you can. A flat government fee is charged to file it and switch the DIN back on. The sooner it is done, the sooner any company filing waiting behind it can move.

My company has not started business yet. Do the directors still need to file?

Yes. DIR-3 KYC is about the person holding the DIN, not what the company has done. Every DIN holder files on the three-year date, whether the company has traded or not.

Will the date be extended?

The law's date is the date to plan for. We never count on an extension. If the government does move a date, we tell you the same day.
